Our Commitment to Diversity, Equity & Inclusion at Everest

At Everest, we hold ourselves accountable to advance diversity, equity and inclusion in our people, our skills and our ideas. We prioritize building a workforce that spans cultures, backgrounds and experiences at every level. This is a priority we bring to life through the diverse representation of leaders and colleagues across Everest.

In 2021, we grew our workforce globally and expanded our talent acquisition and development programs. We take both a bottom-up and top-down approach to diversity by recognizing the critical importance of representation in our leadership ranks. In 2021, we increased diversity in our class of new joiners and in promotions of diverse talent. Fifty-five percent of our new hires at the VP level and above were diverse, and 52% of promotions at the VP level and above were diverse.

Diversity, Equity & Inclusion (DEI) at Everest

Dana Lodge, Chief Financial Officer, Everest Insurance® and Chair of the DEI Council, discusses the importance of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion at Everest.

"At Everest, we come together cross-functionally to create a workplace where all colleagues thrive, and everyone is comfortable bringing their whole selves to work. The diversity of our people reflects the diversity of the stakeholders we serve around the world. Our ongoing laser-focus on DEI is core to who we are and is instrumental to maintaining our position as a global leader.”

Everest’s DEI Council

Our DEI Council’s mission is to help foster an environment that attracts, retains and develops the best talent; values the diversity of people, their life experiences and perspectives; and serves as a conduit to Senior Management to promote measurable company-wide engagement on equity and cultural inclusivity. The DEI Council is an important voice and key counselor and supports our leaders in their role to further cultivate DEI at Everest through open dialogue and discussion, training and best practices.

Our Employee Resource Groups

Through the guidance of our DEI Council, we established five new Employee Resource Groups (ERGs) to amplify and celebrate our Female, Black, Latino, LGBTQ+ and Pan-Asian colleagues. Through networking events, professional development opportunities and sharing cultural traditions, our ERGs are driving greater awareness and collaboration across Everest offices.

Hiring, Training and Development

We prioritize equal opportunity and equity, particularly when evaluating candidates from under-represented groups. We launched a bias awareness and reduction program for all Everest colleagues. We also incorporated bias awareness content in all our development and leadership programs. This year, we will introduce inclusive behavior training. The continued development of all colleagues is core to who we are and how we maintain our competitive advantage as a global leader.
