Shawn Austin to Join Everest as Senior Vice President and Head of Accident and Health for North America

WARREN, New Jersey – October 14, 2022 Everest Re Group, Ltd. (NYSE: RE) today announced Shawn Austin will join as Senior Vice President, Head of Accident and Health for North America, effective October 24, 2022. He will be based in New York and report directly to Jim Williamson, Everest Group COO and Head of Reinsurance.

Bringing 25 years of experience to this role, Shawn will lead strategy development and execution for Accident and Health in North America. He will be responsible for expanding the company’s products and services within the accident and health market. Prior to joining Everest, Shawn served as Head of AIG’s North American Accident and Health business where he oversaw the entire portfolio. During his tenure, Shawn held various leadership roles of increasing responsibility, including senior positions at Liberty Mutual, most recently serving as Senior Vice president leading the distribution and marketing of the company’s start-up global Accident and Health business.

Shawn holds a Master of Business Administration from Fordham University and a Bachelor of Arts in Mathematics from Rutgers University. He is a licensed Broker in Property, Casualty, Life, Health and Accident and serves as Board Member and Governance Chair for the Prospect Park Alliance and as Board member of the Atlantic Yards Community Development Corp.

Shawn will succeed Everest Reinsurance veteran Lou Monteagudo, who will be retiring in December after 26 years with the Company.
